McDonald's All Star Weekend

North Boys Victorious in C-D Game

Taylor Schildroth led the North C-D All-Stars to a 114-89 victory over its South counterparts at Husson College during the 2018 Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star Weekend. taylor schindrothThe George Stevens Academy standout and Mr. Maine Basketball finalist scored 30 points, followed by Jacob Daigle of Fort Kent with 20. Bryce Gilbert of Piscataquis Community High School scored 15 while George Stevens' Max Mattson added 11. 

Leading the South was Zach Small of Richmond HS with 27 points. 18 of his points came from behind the 3-point arc. Scoring 19 points was Ian Regan of Old Orchard Beach. Hall-Dale's Jeff Boyer hit 5 threes for 15 points.

The North led 58-37 at halftime.

North Girls Win C-D Senior All-Star Game

The girls representing the North concluded the McDonald's Senior All Star Weekend with a 79-74 victory over the South. kolleen bouchardMiss Maine Basketball Kolleen Bouchard of Houlton and Sydney Allen of Central High School led the North with 21 points each. Allen displayed a sharp long range shooting skill as she hit several long-distance shots, including three 3-pointers. Bouchard also showed her ability to create as she had several drives and dishes to set up her teammates. Peighton Ingersoll of Stearns added 14 points, including 4 3-pointers for the North. Bouchard's Shiretowner teammate Aspen Flewelling hit three from behind the arc in the first half for all of her 9 points.

Leading the South in scoring was Richmond's Sydney Underhill-Tilton with 16 points. Paige Brown of Boothbay and Sydney LeBlanc of Madison each scored 13 points, while Gilleyanne Davis Oakes added 12.

The North led 41-33 at halftime.

Hart and Halligan Among 2018 Milestone Honorees

Jeff Hart and Dave Halligan are among an elite group of coaches who have reached major milestones during the 2017-18 basketball season. Hart, the coach of the Camden Hills Regional High School boys, and Halligan, coach of the boys from Falmouth High School, each earned their 500 career win this past season.

Other coaches of distinction are Joe Russo of Portland HS with 400 wins, joe russo 400 winsand Mark Reed (Hermon HS), Shawn Graham (Houlton HS), Michael Leblanc (Skowhegan HS) and Ryan Casey (Mountain Valley HS) with 200 wins each.

Coaches who are members of the MABC have voted for the coaches of the year for each division, class, and gender in the state of Maine. Those coaches will serve as coaches at the 2018 Maine McDonalds Senior All Star Games on March 10th. Click here to view the winners.

Mr. and Miss Basketball Finalists Announced

The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches have announced the finalists for the 2018 Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards. The Mister and Miss Basketball Award is presented each year to the senior player who has exhibited outstanding skills throughout his/her career, has made a significant impact on his/her team, has demonstrated respect for the game through leadership on and off the court, has epitomized the values of sportsmanship and has been a positive school and community citizen.

The Miss Basketball finalists for this year are Page Brown of Boothbay Regional HS, Kolleen Bouchard of Houlton HS, and Emily Wheaton of Presque Isle HS. The finalists for Mister Basketball are Taylor Schildroth of George Stevens Academy, Ian McIntyre of Hampden Academy, and Terion Moss of Portland HS. 2018 MABC Regional Foul Shooting Champions

The MABC is pleased to announce the 2018 Regional Foul Shooting Winners. These four boys and four girls will be representing their reagion at the MABC Foul Shooling State Championship during the Maine McDonalds Senior All Star Weekend on March 10th at Husson University in Bangor, ME.
