March 8: Former Dexter Regional High School boys basketball coach, Peter Murray, was named the recipient of the MABC Bob Brown Contributor Award at the MABC McDonald's Senior All-Star Banquet in Bangor.

Murray, who also serves as the MABC President (a position he's held for 20 years), retired last year as the Dexter coach, having coached for 41 years in the program. 

Besides coaching basketball, Peter has also served as the boys and girls tennis coach and the soccer coach. He also has been the advisor of the National Honor Society. peter murray contributorHe also sits on the Board of Directors of the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame and is a member of the Maine Principals' Association's Basketball Commission. Additionally, he has served as an ad hoc member of the National High School Basketball Coaches' Association since 2017.

Peter and his wife Karen have been married for 39 years and they have a son Matthew and daughter Sarah, who are both coaching at various levels.

Murray was presented the award by Executive Director of the MABC and longtime friend George Conant.
