The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches named Will Davies and Lizzy Gruber Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball at their annual Maine McDonalds Senior All Star Banquet in Bangor on March 10. Davies, a 6'3" guard for Thornton Academy, averaged 20.4 points, 6.9 assists, and 6.9 rebounds per game in leading the Trojans to a 15-3 regular season and a trip to the AA South Finals before losing to eventual state champion South Portland.
Other Mr. Maine Finalists were Brady Saunders of Brewer and Silvaro Ismail of Cherverus.
Gruber, a 6'4" center for Gardiner High School, averaged 20.9 points per game and scored over 1000 points and grabbed over 1000 rebounds in her high school career. Gruber led the Tigers to an 18-0 regular season before losing to state champion Lawrence in the Class A North finals.
Other Miss Maine Finalists were Elise MacNair of Old Orchad and Sierra Carson of Oxford Hills.
